Dell Inspiron laptop battery life

Dell Inspiron laptopI just love it, operates as per specs, looks beautiful, BUT, the battery life is NOT what the salesperson suggested. I am bitterly disappointed with only 1 - 2 hours usage. very, very poor. Please improve.

I like buying from Dell because I get…

I like buying from Dell because I get the orders exactly if not before the promise date. I wish they wouldn't outsource their customer service outside the US. But at least you can talk to a live person.

One of the best laptop.

Laptop is great and all that but the battery issue is one of the major issue in this.
I always have to connect it to charger.

Comically bad

I don't know what's worse, the products they push out that are virtually incompatible with basic upgrades or their tech support. Like RAM. BIOS, TMP, Spec sheet, manual, all show 2933MHz cards. Went to upgrade the RAM and the card in there is actually 3200MHz, at least on the label on one card, the other card doesn't have a label at all. Yet the RAM item number on my spec sheet shows a completely different card that is neither. Dell couldn't, or wouldn't answer a single question about what's going on, or what I could do to upgrade, aside from asking me to buy from Dell. They said 'The reason why the card supports 2933 MHz could be that the RAM supports this much speed' Thanks bud. I actually corrected the grammar in his response so it's readable. He asked me to send pics of the card itself on Google Drive, which I did. He kept trying to confirm that I took the card out (to void the warranty) and I didn't. Saw the card, took a pic and stopped. Still no answer, just told me what the BIOS says, which I also took a screenshot of and showed him prior. He asked 4 more times for me to send a pic of the card so he could 'investigate' Round and round we go, for 5 hours. Even as I'm writing this review I got another message asking me to send a pic of the card. On a good note, the computer gets so hot I could heat up my whole house and save money on my electric bill. Without question the first and last Dell product I ever purchase, there's too many good options out there are clear about what they're giving you and that give you the liberty to upgrade how you want it (within spec). After all you bought it, you own it. Next stop, BBBUpdate: A supervisor reviewed my ticket/case and was nice enough to at least reach out, answer my questions as best he could and give me some clarity about the situation, all in one simple, detailed and clear response. Thank you Tejashree.

Extremely positive support experience.

My support experience has been extremely positive. I paid for advanced support from Dell in case i dropped my laptop. Little did I know it would come in so handy to fix a deeply hidden problem in my XPS for me and for others. I spent a lot of time with support in 2020 during my lock down and they helped by going above and beyond to solve or fix not only my system, but future XPS systems. They took what I was saying and worked through it until the details were precise. This particular problem would only be recognizable to a guestimate 30% to 40% of users. They are committed to making it right and I am grateful for it. I will be recommending Dell. Not only because they are the best in class for heat dissipation, but they also care if you cared to purchase the support. I recommend paying the little bit extra for support. Very valuable. Thank you, Dell.

Simple to improve

For years, I've used Dell laptops and designed my own desktop computers. Dell laptops are very dependable, easy to use, have a lot of features, and are reasonably priced. They're also simple to improve. Dell updates and repair parts are available from a number of online retailers. Purchase Dell laptops and tablets from a reputable aftermarket Dell device dealer for the best prices. I got a lot of my Dell laptops from them. I've never had an issue with this manufacturer, and the Dell products they sell come with a one-year warranty.

DELL PROBLEMS

I have two Inspiron 3470's one is still working but the other looks kaput. They put a program on called Dell Assist, it doesn't! After a windows probem, I had to load at least twice, I ran the check up, after an hour of getting ready screen it anounced Windows problem, it checked, (it claimed, no way to verify) hard ware and memory, that was fine. So we went to re-install, 3 hours watching it sit on zero progress, I cancelled, not having any clue whether I had a viable O.S or not. Two hours later I sit here looking at a screen saying, Download cancelled, wating for an exit. The moral being if you buy one these, you have a fifty fifty chance of a good one and if you need to re-install Windows, do it yourself, external to Dell Assist, (stars 2 & 3 are for the one still working)

In the last year and a month I have…

In the last year and a month I have purchased 2 Alienware pcs. One for my son in 2019 for Christmas and one this passed summer for myself. The computers are running great, I received both in the time they promised, both booted up perfectly fine. We play Rainbow Six, and occasionally COD2 multiplayer together. My son plays a lot of other games and uses his pc for school. He's studying graphic design. My 3 stars are for support. I purchased software that did not come installed. It was not in the "Alien Software Locker" which is where software would be to download. Support had no easy solution so it took weeks before I received links to download software. After months of use of software the "update" changes the software to one that requires a subscription. I would like to think that I should have the software I purchased and given an option for the update in addition to what I purchased. BUT the software is now locked as trial period. And the software I purchased is no longer accessible. Of course Dell can't do anything. When we call Dell or text chat with them it ends with nothing good.

Dell XPS15 Update

As an update to the problems, I was having on a brand new xps15. After further calls to the premier support, they came through with the offer to rebuild. At the same time, the company released an update that seemed to fix the crashing and most of the power problems. The computer is now running great and I appreciate the assistance of Dell's premier support.
